April is National Stress Awareness Month. Stress not only affects your mind, but can have several negative effects on your health. Taking time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate will improve your health and overall well-being. Here are three tips you can start today:
Exercise
Physical activity increases neurotransmitters called endorphins. Endorphins help you feel good and puts you in a better mood. Join a group exercises class or burn calories on the fitness floor at our Center to look and feel great.
Gain Happiness in Helping Others
Changing your focus to help others has been scientifically proven to reduce stress levels. Volunteer at a local non-profit, hold a door open for someone, donate to a local shelter while clearing clutter in your home. Any small gesture that shows you care will cause you to feel great and improve your health.
Make Yourself a Cup of Tea
Sleeplessness, irritability and more symptoms of stress can be reduced by enjoying a cup of tea. Chamomile tea in particular is a gentle relaxant that can help you sleep and relax at the end of a long day.
