Meet Brad Temeyer: Fitness Forecast – Lookin’ Good!
More than a few people say that the reason they joined the Fitness Center is because they didn’t like the condition of the body reflected back to them when they stood in front of the mirror. But for meteorologist, Brad Temeyer, it was inner reflection that led him to make fundamental changes in his routine.
To meet Brad, you’d never guess that he’s had a down day in his life (of course everyone has); that beaming smile and enthusiastic energy is positively contagious. However, about three years ago, during an ongoing and particularly stressful time period, Brad’s calm and peace of mind hit the skids. He felt a spiral of self-doubt weighing heavy on his mind and heart. His attitude and outlook was tanking and he felt tired and lethargic. To make things worse, he wasn’t paying any attention to healthy eating or getting any exercise.
He took charge by joining the Avera McKennan Fitness Center, diving into an exercise routine following his fitness assessment. With that, he’s happy to report that his storyline began to brighten pretty quickly. Brad wanted mindbody balance. To get that, he incorporated participation in a variety of group exercise classes and strength conditioning 5 to 6 days per week. He makes sure to get in 20-30 minutes of cardio daily and balances strength training and flexibility work. Favorite classes are Boot Camp, Power Pacing, and Progressive Mat Pilates. He started eating healthier too, which included adding more fresh fruit and protein shakes and cutting out soda.
Although he hadn’t been focused on losing weight, he did indeed lose an extra 25lbs. Brad stuck with his new routine and it wasn’t long before he couldn’t stand the thought of being without it. He says, That euphoric feeling after a workout is SO worth it!
So Brad is once again as bright and cheerful on a day-to-day basis as is the commercial hot air balloon he pilots. On a beautiful, calm clear early morning or evening, look up! You may spot his craft floating with the breeze. And if you do, you’ll know that you can talk with him about it at the next Mat Pilates, or Boot Camp or Power Pacing, or on the elliptical, or in between weight sets on the Fitness Floor.
